FAQ General Rules - M.Sc. Economics
Inhalt
Which courses can I use in the interdisciplinary module?
In the interdisciplinary module (MScE2a) you can use either academic courses from other departments, regardless of their level or language, or additional elective courses in Economics.
Not usable are:
- Language Classes
- Classes from the B.Sc. Economics (tagged B.Sc. VWL in heiCO)
- Ungraded Classes.
An elective course in heiCO is not tagged with the track I am following. Can I use it?
Yes, you can use all elective courses in every track.
However, the tracks Behavioral Economics and Macroeconomics and Financial Econometrics require you to take at least one elective course from that track. Hence, courses that fulfil this requirement are tagged in heiCO accordingly. You may also look for classes by going through the My Degree Programme application in heiCO, which displays all courses correctly in the specific modules.
Which courses count towards fulfilling the 16 ECTS necessary after two semesters?
Only courses in Economics (i.e. Electives and compulsory modules) count towards the requirement. Interdisciplinary courses do not count.
Does the second exam date of my second semester count for fulfilling the 16 ECTS?
Yes, the second exam date of your second semester is also part of and therefore counted towards your second semester.
Where can I find all the rules?
All the rules of the programme are described in the examination regulation (in German) and the module handbook (in English).
I want to start my Master's thesis but need to complete x additional credits. Can I take classes while writing my thesis?
Yes, as long as you have completed at least 70 ECTS, you may start with your thesis. While doing so, you are also allowed to take additional classes simultaneously.
