General Information

  • PLEASE NOTE: Due to the switch to heiCO, there have been fundamental changes to the information on this page from summer semester 2024 on. Please read it carefully.
  • The first and second exam period at AWI are independent from each other, including a respective registration period. Lectures always require an exam registration. Deregistrations are possible until three days before a written exam (i.e. with the exception of alternative exam formats, here applies: end of registration = end of deregistration).
  • The courses offered can be found in heiCO (see also link on the right; ‘L’ = lecture, ‘SE’ = seminar). For the time being, registrations for seminars will continue to take place as described in the respective course text.
  • Students who are unable to attend an exam due to illness must submit a medical certificate to the Examination Office within three days of the examination, incl. the student number and the name(s) of the affected exam(s). Certificates submitted later will not be considered. Anyone who misses an exam unexcused will receive a grade of 5.0 (= not passed).
  • The medical certificate must certify incapacity for examination and bear the practice stamp and the doctor's signature; certificates of incapacity for work ("Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigungen") can no longer be accepted. Please note that a medical certificate affects all exams within the attested period.
  • From now on, the following applies to all AWI exams: (De)Registration (for lectures) and the notification of results will take place in heiCO. This also applies to non-AWI students; results will no longer be posted and it will no longer be necessary to request a written proof ('Schein') or have them sent to the respective examination office. Only students of the University of Mannheim will continue to proceed as before for the time being.
  • Please mind the 'Correction Status' page for the current status of an exam and for information on the exam review offered by the examiners.
  • Additional information and manuals can be found below.

AWI students

In addition to the information above, the following applies to all students enrolled in an AWI study programme:

  • Please always choose the correct study programme when registering for exams.
  • To register for AWI exams, use the ‘My Degree Programme’ tile; for registrations for exams at other institutes, use the ‘Interdisciplinary Exam Registration/Deregistration’ tile.
  • Exceptions:
    • Bachelor 100% students can register for most IPW and MWI exams (module ‘Interdisciplinary Perspectives’) also with ‘My Degree Programme’. Please note the requirements for exam participation as described in the module handbook, without which registration will no longer be possible.
    • Bachelor 50% or 25% students register for exams of their other subject with ‘My Degree Programme’ as well, by choosing the respective study programme.
  • You can use the ‘My Exams' tile to check your registrations and to deregister.
  • When registering with ‘Interdisciplinary Exam Registration/Deregistration’ for exams at other institutes, registration will usually only be possible as ‘free registration’. The exam result will then be visible to you in your account, but will not be automatically recorded in your curriculum; please contact us at the Examination Office for this final step.
  • Manuals by the heiCO team can be found via the link on the right. If you have any questions, please check there first and then contact us at the Examination Office.
  • Please note:
    • B.Sc. Economics students cannot use M.Sc. Economics courses for their study programme.
    • For the first exam dates of ‘Economic and Social Statistics’ (June/July 2024), please also refer to the corresponding Moodle forum posts for information on exam registration.
    • The 'My Achievements' tile mentioned on the German version of the heiCO manuals page is currently only available for our M.Sc. students. During the course of the summer semester, the heiCO team will activate it for all other students as well.
